Kindergarten: My youngest students learned this week about being good friends! We talked about ways to be good friends to others. We read Best Friends and discussed how the characters were or weren't good friends to each other. The story deals with the struggle of having to share your friend with others. We talked about how it is okay to play with different people and have different friends. At the end we played a game on the smartboard that let us sort friendly and unfriendly choices.
First Grade: These kiddo talked this week about how to be a good friend. We brainstormed and shared ideas before reading Hunter's Best Friend at School. We discussed how the characters were or weren't good friends in the story, how the choices they made affected those around them, and how part of being a good friend is being a good learner in the classroom so the other people around you can learn! Hunter and Stripe, the main characters, even visited during our story :)
Second Grade: We talked about the difference between tattling and reporting. We sang my tatting song and then read A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue. We talked about how the main character could have been a positive problem solver instead of tattling.
