Kindergarten started by dancing and singing to the book "If You're Happy and You Know It" to learn about showing our feelings in different ways.
All grades talked about the importance of 1. recognizing our feelings 2. using coping strategies to deal with our feelings and 3. taking steps to move forward from change.
K-2 listened to the book "The Rabbit Listened" and discussed the coping strategies presented in the story.
3-5 brainstormed strategies they have learned or used before to deal with big/uncomfortable feelings. We practiced a few like deep breathing and exercise :) We also talked about how problems we have are just very small parts of our big lives. Even when things might feel terrible, they WILL get better--our lives are more than just right now.
