Feelings: We talked about feelings for a couple weeks in November. We practiced identifying feelings in ourselves and others and being able to name feelings. We spent time talking about how it's okay to be mad, but not okay to be mean. For this lesson, we read The Color Monster and talked about how to show feelings. Then we used our feelings to magically color Mrs. Hoell's feelings coloring book! So much fun!
Friendship: We started to talk about friends! We read Wanted: Best Friend and then talked about what qualities we want to have in a friend (and what qualities we need to BE a friend!)
1st- Feelings: We talked about feelings and practiced identifying them in ourselves and others. We read The Way I Feel and discussed what would cause us to have those feelings and how they would feel in our bodies.
2nd- Feelings: We talked about feelings and practiced identifying them in ourselves and others. We read How are You Peeling? and discussed what would cause us to have those feelings and how they would feel in our bodies.
3rd- Respect/Rumors. We THOUGHT we were spreading respect paste, but it turned out to be RUMOR paste--oops!! We talked about what rumors are and how/why they hurt people. We tried to take the rumor back, but it wouldn't go back in the tube :( We learned some "Rumor Rules" for dealing with spreading stories and gossip.
4th- Perspective/Point of View: We looked at some optical illusions and talked about how people can see the same thing in different ways. How can we be respectful of different ideas or perspectives? We did some practice scenarios to think of the different ways to think about the situation and talked about why it is important to consider all possibilities.
5th- Tough Feelings: talked about some big feelings and what happens when we don't use strategies to control them. Took notes on some coping strategies to make good choices and calm big feelings.
